Iranian President: "Israel should be wiped from the map."
Who are we to meddle in the affairs of the Middle East with a nuclear Iran?
Via The Financial Times of London:
Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad, Iran's fundamentalist president, on Wednesday declared that Israel should be "wiped off the map" and warned Arab countries against developing economic ties with Israel in response to its withdrawal from Gaza.
"Anybody who recognises Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury," he said, in remarks aimed at Arab states.

hilarious! vividly portrayed! this is perhaps the most engaging blog in the universe! it's as if you've never listened to a single pundit or think tank lecture!...wow!...totally avoiding the question and validity of Israel's formation!...awesome...out

It's a little too late to debate the validity of Israel's creation - it's there and it ain't going anywhere -- even level headed Palestinians say that. What the President of Iran said was outrageous - you expect things like that from lower levels, not the President. I'm not for invading Iran - if they get the bomb now or later, but you've (j-sin) got to admit Iran ain't helping with statements like that.
no it's not helping itself and I'm not defending Iran or its leadership...but I don't think it's "too late to debate the validity of Israel's creation"...if that's the case it's also too late to bring up Jane Fonda and it's also too late to continue talking about how "we saved France's butt" and all that other stupid crap that conservatives constantly bring up...out

"...bring up Jane Fonda and it's also too late to continue talking about how "we saved France's butt" and all that other stupid crap that conservatives constantly bring up..."
sure, but no one is bringing that up here...
and you don't have to sign off with "out" every time, just makes you look like a 13 year old...
Umm...i think there is a little difference in the questions of bringing up Jane Fonda and the Israel debate. Having a debate on the validity of Israel is useless - to what result? Disband Israel and move all the Israeli's somewhere else? To concentration camps maybe? Or perhaps we should let the Syrians or the Iranians run the Jewish state. Plus - most Muslim states are not that much older anyway. Even before colonial rule there wasn't too much out there (esp pre-oil). The comments were ridiculous and outrageous. Tony Blair's response has been the best so far.
