Album of the Year: Youth by Matisyahu

Turn off the homogenized, sterilized, pasteurized, over-produced, mass marketed garbage from the likes of the Dixie Chicks and rock steady with Matisyahu.

Check out one of the singles, "King without a Crown" below:

A close second for the top release of 2006 would be Testify by P.O.D. with none other than Matisyahu guesting on two tracks including "Strength of My Life" (an ode to Psalms 27.)

another good tune:

WHEN GOD MADE ME

Was he thinking about my country,
or the colour of my skin?
Was he thinking about my religion,
and the way I worshipped him?
Did he create just me in his image,
or every living thing?

When God made me.
When God made me.

Was he planning only for believers,
or for those who just had faith?
Did he envision all wars
that were fought in his name?
Did he say there was only one way
to be close to him?

When God made me.
When God made me.

Did he give me the gift of love
to say who I could choose?

When God made me.
When God made me.
When God made me.

Did he give me the gift of voice
so some could silence me?
Did he give me the gift of vision
not knowing what I might see?
Did he give me the gift of compassion
to help my fellow man?

When God made me.
When God made me.
When God made me.

That is an interesting and misguided song that is asking all the wrong questions. Btw, the questions all have answers that given the style they were written in would most likely make the author upset.

Not sure it'll be "album of the year", but certainly is a better alternative to the Dixies. I gotta know, though...since I'm relatively new to this blogging thing....how did you get a VIDEO clip in your post???
